Here’s one thing the Mayans never could have predicted about the December 2012: The renewed relevance of all things MySpace. Not only is the relaunched site earning a decent amount of praise, but old-school MySpace icon Tom Anderson is the talk of Twitter today. Still rocking that original profile photo that millions of MySpace users remember as their first friend on the network, Tom absolutely scorched a Twitter user who tried to mock him over Instagram privacy issues. “People keep asking, so I'll say it: fear over Instagram's terms change is ridiculous... Get real folks!” wrote @MySpaceTom on Wednesday afternoon. A frequent and passionate Instagram user, Tom was responding to this week’s kerfuffle over new terms of service for the photo sharing site. One of Instagram’s many vocal critics,a guy named Polo Tapia, responded with a zinger: “Says the guy who was not able to keep a social network alive.” But Tom fired back with a killing blow: “Says the guy who sold myspace in 2005 for $580 million while you slave away hoping for a half-day off.” The burn has been retweeted more than 6,900 times in the past 17 hours, and Tapia seems to have deactivated his account. Also, responding to another comment last night saying he needed to update his profile image, Anderson kept his swagger on tap: “If I used a new pic it would break the Internet ; my pic has been viewed more than than the mona lisa bitch.” (Photo credit goes to Tom's truly amazing Instagram collection, screenshot below via The Daily Dot.)
