YouTube surely spent a lot of time and effort in deciding what to call its ad-free subscription option, which was announced Wednesday.
It decided to name the service YouTube Red, pointing to the brand's association with the color, which is the only one in the YouTube logo aside from black and white. This makes sense, except there's one problem.
It sounds a lot like a well-known porn site. And the Internet was quick to point that out.
Did anyone at YouTube not realize what Red Tube was before naming something YouTube Red? You're just one wrong click away from trouble.

Youtube Red and chill. Not to be confused with Redtube and chill. Very different things.

YouTube Red? Why not just call it RedTube? Oh wait…

But YouTube isn't worried about the association. "We did a lot of consumer testing, so we were comfortable with it," Robert Kyncl, YouTube's chief business officer, told reporters today. AdFreak has reached out to RedTube for comment.
This could make for some confusing search histories.
