In addition to the usual pomp and circumstance, the 2015 Clio Awards on Wednesday were peppered with some fun little nuggets celebrating the ad industry and culture.
One such moment occured as music legend Melssa Etheridge took the stage to introduce several musical acts—X Ambassadors and Salt-n-Pepa. Etheridge addressed the crowd. "Thank you, thank you advertisers for bringing music into people's homes—I really appreciate that very much," she said.
She then asked the audience "Have you been good? I will leave you with one musical thing." After getting the crowd clapping, she sang a pretty spot-on a cappella rendition of Janis Joplin's "Mercedes Benz."
