Just in time for Derek Jeter's broken ankle and the bitter tears of Yankee fans everywhere, Kleenex is offering customizable oval tissue boxes with postseason baseball themes. As a lifelong Bombers booster, my eyes haven't been dry since Captain Clutch became Captain Crutch. I think I'll order a few dozen Yankee pinstriped ovals emblazoned with a 3-D image of Jeter in flowing robes. (Yes, I've Photoshopped such an image. All real fans have!) The promotion benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. And when fans buy one, they can send another free to someone who needs it. I'll be sharing those extra boxes with myself, because if trends continue, the Detroit Tigers will bounce the Yanks from the playoffs, and I'll need soft, branded comfort even more. Laura Posada, wife of former Yankees catcher Jorge Posada, is the spokeswoman for the effort for some reason. I checked her out online … and my tears of sadness turned to tears of joy. Thanks, Kleenex!
