Siri Misidentifies Poison Ivy as Poison Oak in Apple Print Ad

In yet another example of how far removed humanity has become from nature, a recent print ad for the Apple iPhone, and its notorious personal assistant Siri, misidentified poison ivy as poison oak. Chrysler Herbarium director and botanist Lena Struwe found the ad while breezing through The Economist and sent it around to a few of her colleagues, who confirmed that the picture shows poison ivy—not poison oak. Oops. Well, I can't say I'm surprised that Siri got this one wrong. She's been hanging out with all those celebrities lately—it wouldn't be the first time someone let the details slide at the first blush of fame. Let's hope she doesn't develop a full-blown drug problem. Photo by Vilseskogen on Flickr.
