If tooling around Manhattan in advertisements for the third-season premiere of HBO's Boardwalk Empire is your idea of a good time, the Uber car service can make that dream a reality. Just download the company's Android or iPhone app to schedule a spin today, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., in 1920s-era Bentleys, Packards, Rolls-Royces and such. Last year's big NYC Boardwalk promo, offering rides in a vintage subway car, was more impressive. Plus, Uber us locked in a regulatory battle with traditional taxi firms. So, if a cab cuts off your chauffeured vintage Caddy in SoHo and the cabbie makes with the Bronx cheer, you'll know why. Also, Uber's use of a "gangster" theme for the campaign, though in sync with the show, seems suspect. When gangsters invite you to take a ride, isn't that an offer you'd be wise to refuse?
